Location:  Melbourne Avenue, Ealing Borough
Project: Manufacture of bespoke Planters, litter bins and cycle stands.
Client: London Borough of Ealing
Architect: East Architects
Main Contractor:    Murill Contracting
Value: £50, 000

East Architects approached Kent Stainless to help with the design and manufacture of a range of items on behalf of the London Borough of Ealing. The project required a range of products that were of stainless steel construction with a consistent finish throughout each product. Kent Stainless manufactured the Roma Litter Bins (with ashtrays) and East designed stainless steel cycle stand with both having a bead blasted finish.

The main aspect of the project was to convert the 5m and 3m diameter existing concrete to seating and planters. After much deliberation and discussion with the client it was decided a stainless steel frame and shroud (again with bead blasted finish) with Iroko timber elements for the seating and back rest was the best solution. Taking East Architects initial ideas Kent Stainless designed and manufactured the planters which incorporated arm rests, Iroko timber slats and back rests.

Outline of Project Requirements:

  • Grade 316 stainless steel throughout
  • Consistent finish across all products
  • FSC certified Iroko timber
  • Design and manufacturing of bespoke seats and planters
